FA Cup Final: Chelsea To Play Conference League As Manchester United Beat City

Manchester United players have done the unthinkable against Manchester City as they came from nowhere to win the 2023-2024 FA Cup title at Wembley.

Bookmakers across the world predicted that Manchester City would beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final due to the club’s poor run of games in the 2023-2024 season. But the reverse was the case.

Recall that in the said season, Manchester United finished 8th while Manchester City won the Premier League title for the 4th time in a row. But that form didn’t have any part to play in the FA Cup final earlier today, May 25, 2024.

Alejandro Garnacho got the match opener for Manchester United in the 30th minute. Nine minutes later, Kobbie Mainoo doubled United’s lead.

Coach Erik ten Hag and his boys managed to hold on to the two-goal lead until in the 87th minute when goalkeeper Andre Onana failed to stop Jérémy Doku’s shot from the edge of the penalty box.

Despite how hard coach Pep Guardiola and his boys tried to get the equalizer in the last five minutes and the additional 7 minutes, the Red Devils survived the scare as they ran away with a 2-1 win.

With Manchester United’s FA Cup triumph, the Red Devils will play in the Europa League next season, while Chelsea who finished 6th in the Premier League will drop to the Conference League next season.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Manchester United will keep coach Erik ten Hag at the club beyond this season now that he has won his second title in two full seasons.
