Nicki Minaj Postpones Manchester Concert After Arrest

by · VULTURE

Nicki Minaj was reportedly arrested in Amsterdam on her way to her show in Manchester on May 25. The source? Her Instagram live. Several hours later, it was announced that Minaj’s concert at the Co-Op Live arena has been postponed to a future date. Read the latest update on the postponed concert here and if Minaj will still perform in the UK on Sunday.

What happened?

In the recording reposted on Twitter, a police officer is telling Minaj that she’s under arrest but would not specify the reason. They ask her to step inside of a van and tell her to stop filming while she asks for a lawyer. Later, Minaj posted on Twitter a video of someone telling her that all of her luggage needed to be searched because she “filmed” the officer, despite it being searched before she got on the plane. She then posts several tweets alluding to unnamed people, presumably her former tour manager, who is trying to “sabotage” her tour and that possibly drugs were “planted” in her luggage.

Is the Manchester concert still happening?

Sort of, it has been postponed and a new concert date will be announced soon. In a statement from Live Nation shared with Vulture, the tour promoter wrote, “Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen, the events of today have made it impossible. We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused.”

When she was arrested, Minaj was en route to her concert at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester. The venue delayed the door opening time for fans but eventually let them in. Minaj’s last tweet shared she was on her way to make a statement to the Dutch police. Vulture has reached out to Minaj’s reps for comment.

Will Minaj perform in Birmingham on Sunday?

Her concert at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, United Kingdom, will go on as planned, confirms Live Nation to Vulture.
