Richard M. Sherman, one half of the award-winning brother duo who penned iconic songs for Disney and others, has died.

Richard M. Sherman, one half of the Sherman Brothers songwriting team best known for their work on ‘Mary Poppins,’ has died at the age of 95.

The legendary Disney songwriter Richard M. Sherman has died at 95. Alongside his older brother Robert B. Sherman (who passed away in 2012), the Sherman Brothers composed classic songs like “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “A Spoonful Of Sugar” from Mary Poppins, “It’s A Small World (After All),” and many others. Sherman died due to age-related illnesses at Cedars-Sinai in Beverly Hills, as Variety reports.

The Walt Disney Co. announced that Sherman died Saturday in a Los Angeles hospital due to age-related illness.

Sherman, together with his late brother Robert, won two Academy Awards for Walt Disney's 1964 smash "Mary Poppins" - best score and best song, "Chim Chim Cher-ee."
