WSYF directs Vipe Enterprise to expedite works from Central Jail to Atu Ghoki, Hozukhe on NH 29
· Nagaland PageDIMAPUR, MAY 25: The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has directed Vipe Enterprise, the firm contracted to build the NH 29 road from Central Jail to Atu Ghoki, Hozukhe in Niuland District, to expedite the works while reminding that the project was supposed to have been completed by April 15 last year as per the terms of tender.
In a press release issued on Saturday, the youth group expressed concern over the non-completion of said project worth Rs 24,34,79,000.
Following an application from Vipe Enterprise for Extension of Time (EoT), the State PWD extended the completion period to August 13, 2023 with strict directives to complete the work within the stipulated time, it stated.
“However, regrettably the firm could not complete the project even after EoT was granted to them. Taking note of the same, the contractor of the firm was summoned on September 26, 2023 to the office of the Chief Engineer, PWD(R&B) Nagaland, Kohima, wherein the contractor assured in the form of an undertaking that the work in all aspects and as per specifications shall be completed by November 30, 2023.
“However, even after the EoT was granted to the enterprise twice, the road project remains incomplete and the work schedule is behind by more than a year which clearly shows the lackadaisical attitude of the firm and the contractor. Pursuant thereto, the WSYF undertook the inspection of the project and assessed the ground report of the same and it was observed that the
Overall physical progress stands at 94.54%, while the Overall Financial progress stands at 89.60% as on May 22, 2024”, it added.
According to WSYF, the road serves as a lifeline for the people of Niuland District and adjoining Districts of Wokha, Tseminyu and Kohima. “The stretch of the road is a vital link in terms of communication and economic growth and will benefit not only few but every tribe and accelerate the development and economic prosperity.
“There have been various concerns raised in different quarters by various civil societies relating to the non-completion of the road project. These concerns cannot be ignored or brushed aside and definitely merit consideration. Despite repeated directions to the concerned firm for completion of the project, the progress of the work is at a snail pace and therefore, the WSYF directs the M/S Vipe Enterprise to expedite the work progress and complete the work at the earliest”, it stated.
The WSYF urged the firm to ensure that all necessary resources, including personnel and equipment, are allocated to expedite the completion of the project. It also cautioned against compromising the quality and raw materials used for the construction.
“It is also pertinent to note that the Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Dimapur Division, has been directed to strictly monitor the project and submit weekly progress report to the office of the Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) Nagaland, Kohima. In this regard, the WSYF urge the Department to strictly carry out work inspection regularly and cautioned against the payment of the remaining balance without completion of the work project.
“WSYF further warns the M/S Vipe Enterprise to complete the work project at the earliest with quality workmanship and execute the project as per specifications following all the requisite guidelines of the DPR, failing which the WSYF will resort to its own course of action to protect and safeguard the interest of the general public”, it added.
