It’s finally here, The 2 Johnnies’ often talked about, long-promised and much sweated-over debut album Small Town Heroes is released on May 31.

And the duo are set to visit County Kildare to promote it on Thursday June 6. The pair will be at Golden Discs, Whitewater Shopping Centre, Newbridge at midday.

The album is packed like a Junior B gearbag full of songs of love and lust, good times and bad times and the kind of people you and your neighbours are.

Featuring 14 brand new songs including St. Patrick Drive a Honda Civic and I’m So Hungover I Could Die this album is the story of every boy or girl growing up in a small town.

“This is the biggest and best thing we’ve ever done. Never been so proud of being in The 2 Johnnies. The album Small Town Heroes is dedicated to all the characters and legends round the town who make our world possible and inspire all our material and references. Ireland and the world is full of small town heroes, we try to tell their story,” said Johnny B.

“Drinking, fighting, ridin’, smoking fags while spinning round town in a twin cam, the GAA, the bad and the ugly of real life in Ireland. Stick this on, turn it up and give her socks.”

The new album

Johnny Smacks added; “They say sing about what you know so that’s what we’re doing. There’s no singing about LA and celebrities — this is about real life. Some songs will make you want to go on a three-day benders, some maybe only a two-day bender. This is an album for real people by real people. So let your window down, stick the arm out like a cool sham and pump out the tunes. Up small town heroes, up riding.”

The album will be available to stream and to buy from Irish retailers on Vinyl and CD from 31 May. To celebrate the release the lads will be hitting the road to meet the fans and will be signing copies of their album in record stores around the country. Anyone who pre-ordered the album will also have access to a free gig.
