O'Brien has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Lyon since moving to the French side after a loan spell in Belgium in Molenbeek.
It has been a remarkable rise for the 23-year-old who never made a senior appearance for Crystal Palace after signing from Cork City.

On Saturday evening he was marking the likes of Kylian Mbappe in front of 50,000 fans at The Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
PSG made a fast start as Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz put them 2-0 ahead at half-time.
But O'Brien gave Lyon hope when he met a corner with a brilliant header to beat Gianluigi Donnarumma in the PSG goal.
Although the Corkman ended up on the losing side, it was a memorable day for O'Brien, who was also introduced to French President Emmanuel Macron before the match.
